European Thematic Working Groups

The Commission has established a number of EN RD Thematic Working Groups (TWG). They focus on specific rural development programme thematic priorities.

They provide in-depth analysis of EU Rural Development policy implementation.  They are intended to contribute to the understanding and diffusion of 'know-how' and experiences and improvement of policy implementation effectiveness. They work on the basis of a specific mandate elaborated by the Commission.  The themes which the TWGs focus on are identified and agreed within the Coordination Committee.

The four groups are:

• TWG1: Targeting rural territorial specificities and needs;
• TWG2: Linkages between agriculture and the wider rural economy;
• TWG3: Public goods and public intervention; and 
• TWG4: Delivery mechanisms of EU Rural Development Policy.
